Kevin Isbester never expected to have a hole in one, none of us do really. We all hope, some even pray, but to expect anything in golf is as we all know is fraught with danger.
On Wednesday 1st October Kevin had no idea what was about to happen when walked on the 6th tee at his beloved Nambour Golf Club. 85m from the pin, 9 iron in hand. His best strike of the day 1 bounce and a little roll out and straight in the front door.
At 78 years of age Kevin has been back in the game nearly 20 years, a member at Nambour for the last 7 years and this his crowning moment, his first hole in one. Hearty congratulations from his regular playing partners and a cheer from the group in front on the 7th tee broke the morning silence.
Needless to say, smiles all round as Kevin picked his Titleist #1 out of the hole.
A regular Wednesday & Friday golfer Kevin was back on Friday 3rd October with his success from Wednesday still fresh in mind.
And again, as he stepped on to the 6th tee, 9 iron in hand his expectations were not high and whose would be after having mastered this hole only 48 hours earlier.
Incredibly Kevin managed the same feat, now by all reports (from his same playing partners as Wednesday) the shot was probably not of the same standard but we bet Kev’s not going to give it back.
More of a sly grin this time as he picked his Titleist #2 out of the hole.
Well done Kevin, a feat to be hold and story to tell for the years to come. No truth to the rumor he went searching for a Titleist #3 for his next round.
