MAY 2023 Greens Report
This month we have completed the 13th path with adding soil and turf alongside the concrete and hopefully this will help divert the water that rushes down the tee area.
The course has just had a massive fertilisation including all fairways, green surrounds, and tees have been sprayed.
The boys have spot sprayed all crows foot weeds in greens, although the weeds are present still with cool conditions. The time factor for the weeds to fully disappear is quite long and frustrating to the eye not only for our golfers but for our staff, so therefore we will be hand weeding all greens as of next week. This will take a couple of weeks in between a few projects planned.
The new tractor has arrived and is great, and the staff have already topped up all the bunkers with fresh sand and cleaned up paths and added road base where needed.
Moving forward next week, the staff will be starting the 3rd bunker project, and this will include new shaping, drainage and new sand and should be in play before the weekend.
We have organised for a few trees to be trimmed, and the 6th hole overhang branches will be done next month as well.
The bunker on the right hand side and adjacent to the 4th green will also be filled in once the club championships have been completed and this will become a grassed mound.
There are a number of dead trees throughout our course and this has not gone unnoticed. I have a plan with our arborists to start the process next month, one tree at a time.
Hopefully a little rain, though not too much as the course is drying out again, but looking great and definitely in a better situation than last year.
