January 2023 Greens Report
What a perfect start to the year for the course: minimal rain, plenty of growth and with three new staff members that have just joined the greens staff team, we have been able to start fixing up paths, weeding tees and greens and starting other projects such as the 7th drainage to the green.
As we move close to greens renovations, this will take place next month on Mon 6th February to Wed 8th. Renovations will include a 12mm solid tine and a heavy de-thatch to all greens, followed by a heavy top dress followed by amendments and watering. The staff have started pulling out all Crowsfoot weeds in our greens prior to renovations, and will continue throughout the year to improve the cleanliness of our greens.
We have also started the drainage work, and g.u.r has been marked with drop zones added, and this will stay in place until the project is completed early February when Kev and his excavator help finish the works.
We will also be starting more work on our paths with 80m of concrete added to the 7th hole. This will be done to help with our carts in wet conditions, a must and will be very beneficial for the club.
The team are constantly mowing the rough every day, and we have also started touching up pot holes etc on our paths.
All focus now is to keep the course maintained at its best, and after renovations are completed we will be turfing the small bare areas to greens such as 2nd, 15th and 13th that I mentioned in last month’s report.
We will also be fixing up tee signs, rubbish bins and adding more sand to our bunkers in the near future.
