Greens Report December 2024

COURSE REPORT – DECEMBER 2024

Well, it’s been another wild year with weather. It wasn’t so long ago we were running town water into our dams, with no access to effluent water and the pump running non-stop. Is now the complete opposite, with the river still running through the course as we speak, and with more rain forecast for the rest of the week, is not the way I would have liked to end the year.

There is some good news however. The course is green and in great condition overall. The tees have massively improved from wear areas in winter, however greens are on high watch for any diseases that may arise with all this rain, but for now they are nice and healthy.

Re the patches on the 2nd green from when I sprayed out the carpet grass and which has been completed, we will see the new improved surface in the new year. I am sure you will all be happy with the results.

I also sprayed out carpet grass from the 7th, 12th and 15th greens and which are now almost completely carpet grass free. It has been a slow process but I am very happy with the end results with such a pest grass on our course.

Throughout this year we have improved a few tees, such as new grass on 8th, 7th, 4th and 18th.

The side of the 6th was repaired with new grass and fence installed.

The 7th hole has new bollards and rope installed for safety, and this will stay in place permanently.

All trees throughout the course were snipped, and herbicide sprayed to the bases looks great and we will be doing another application in February.

A new fence was put in place on the cemetery entrance.

New sand was added to all bunkers, with more being ordered and which will be added in January.

A new machinery shed has been proposed for next year.

A new blower was purchased and which has been well used already on the course and carpark.

Next year we will be continuing work on improving tee surfaces, repairing and installing new drainage throughout the course, tree pruning, maintenance and cart path repairs.

To finish the year off, the team will be doing its best with the weather to keep on top of the rough and with all surrounds for mowing.

Thanks to all my Staff, Admin Staff, our Committee Members and Golfing Members for all your support.

I look forward to continuing next year with more improvements.
