GREENS REPORT – JANUARY 2024
Well, it’s been a great start to the year for the course with receiving plenty of rain, and all dams are at 100%.
This month we finally see the fast summer growth and the boys have been on the rough mowers every day and will continue this to keep rough down. We have also needed to use our rough mowers to cut stalky carpet grass on the fairways and surrounds.
Now that the greens surrounds and fairways have good moisture in the profile, I will be spraying all areas with primo and fertiliser next week.
This month we have had to put up ropes on the 5th and 7th and although we have the paths, we are still seeing players ignore them and take on the very dangerous hills in the carts.
There have now been three signs on the 5th, 6th and 7th holes added, and when these signs are visible and on the course, that means all carts must stay on the path at all times. This is not just for protection for the grass but more importantly, for your safety.
All tee banks and areas on the tees have been snipped: the 18th banks snipped, Everglades snipped and cleaned up, drainage boxes and drains snipped, valve boxes and distance markers snipped.
As the boys continue weekly maintenance to all areas, we are getting prepared for renovations next month.
Before renovations start, we will be spraying for small weeds on greens.
Renovations will be on 5th and 6th of February.
All greens will be heavily scarified, followed by 12mm aeration holes.
Once this is completed there will be a heavy top dress and fertiliser added.
Watering will continue throughout the week during comp and social play, but please
do not touch any of the course irrigation or any valves while playing, as this can cause expensive damage to the system.
