Greens Report October 2025

COURSE REPORT – OCTOBER 2025

It has been a very challenging month with no rain in sight following greens renovations. These went very well, however recovery was longer than normal due to the dry weather conditions and the watering system. With this system, we can only put out a maximum of 60,000 litres per day, and we can only water one green at a time with very poor pressure and as there is no consistency with the watering system, we are limited to choosing only seven greens per night.

We are also experiencing more than normal water leaks to all of the irrigation pipes throughout the course. This is due to age and is becoming more of a concern for the immediate future for watering greens and because of anything to do with pressure, this is only going to get worse.

I have applied multiple applications of wetting agents to the greens. The irrigation system is running non stop everyday and the staff are hand watering with the fire pump as well as using the water tank with the tractor daily.

Hopefully some rain soon as we are now onto effluent water that can also bring more issues for the greens surfaces. An upgrade to our irrigation system is a must to improve all areas of the course.

The struggled areas (bare patches) on greens have been turfed and the staff are hand watering these areas.

The 13th fairway patches were excavated, filled with new soil and turf was layed, and these new turf areas are also being hand watered.

A small area on the 2nd green surround was excavated and soil and turf were added.

The 10th tee garden was filled and turfed.

Full tee rebuild to fix the tee levels was planned but has been put on hold until approval granted.

All tee areas are really struggling due to no irrigation and large volume of golfers.

The staff have been and will continue to hand water tees and greens as much as possible.

Some markers on tees will be moved forward off the tee area until we get some rain and see improvement of grass coverage.

Concrete blocks have been pre-ordered for the material bays in the car park and this project will commence next month.
