PRESIDENTS REPORT
Rumour has it I’ve been away a lot this year which is true to a point. In actuality I’ve been away only 7 weeks all together. It just proves how much faith I have in our current committee that I feel confident taking holidays which is how it should be for all committee members. Just not all at the same time hopefully. I must add though that I’ve had a fabulous time away on each occasion.
Nambour has successfully participated in many District events this year such as Match Play Pennant, Race to the Coast, Invitation Days, District Championships, Foursomes Championships to name a few. We had some good results in most events so congratulations to everyone who represented our club. Its great to see the ladies still going to these events.
Our own Invitation Day & Race to the Coast were extremely well supported & we received great feedback about how well organised we are here at Nambour which is excellent testament to Jennys’ committee & our members. My thanks to the ladies who baked for these events & those who played.
Our Cancer Charity Day on 5th October was once more a great success & thank you to Sue Rogers for organising & liaising with all the sponsors. I know she enjoys it but its still a big job. I must thank Brendan O’Dea this year for securing 3 rounds of golf for 4 people including carts at Twin Waters Golf Club. We doubled the money from the previous year in the ‘Bidding War’ due to the great prizes on offer. Thank you to all who participated & made this day so successful. Nambour Hospitals’ Cancer Unit was once again the recipient of our efforts.
We increased our mixed ambrose events to 3 this year due to popular demand. Each event was themed & it’s great to see so many members get into the spirit. Everyone seems to enjoy these ambrose events so we can ‘let loose’ with our golf & have fun.
My special thanks to Sandy & Lynne for running our raffles every week. They are so reliable & dependable. Thanks to Liddy for her support wherever needed & Joan helping out the committee on our host days.
Keeping staff has been a big issue this year for club management so we have to be grateful to those who hold it all together. Steve, Nigel, Kynan, Nat & the team. To Andy & his greenkeepers team, the ladies really respect & appreciate all your efforts.
