Trainee Professional - Darrell Dalton
Darrell is fast closing in on his time as our Trainee Professional and his leadership role with the Junior Development Program at NGC. What is next for Darrell? Who is going to be oour next trainee??
If you haven't visited our Pro Shop, you would not have had the pleasure of meeting our Professional in training, Darrell Dalton. Darrell started his traineeship 01 January 2006, after a successful career in Health. Being a trainee professional golfer involves three years of study through Griffith University, and work in the Pro shop. Study covers such topics as business principles, course management, sport science, coaching principles and club making and repairs.
A mature age trainee, Darrell has thrown himself into his work, and in particular with the junior development program. He can be seen giving the Juniors lessons at 7.30 a.m. every Saturday morning, before they play a 9 hole competition. Another exciting project Darrell has co-ordinated is the Cadbury Schweppes National Skills Challenge.
Darrell finishes his time with Mal in December, and another mature age trainee is due to commence then as well. More about him later.
Darrell will be 'around' for a little while yet, is still available for lessons, but not for too long as he is negotiating a position as a professional golfer at with an emerging golf industry in China!
