Water Woes

We need water in some places, but not here!

We have to deal with water run-off on such a hilly course as this. Some areas are especially prone to wash out or erosion, and moving of top soil to where it is not wanted. One such area lies behind the 14th tee. This tee is deluged from water off the adjacent hills, and as well as being waterlogged in rainy times, the tee is covered in silt from off the hills.

So a deep drain is being dug from directly behind this tee, along its side and then connects up with the drain which separates the hole from the cemetery. Now any water run-off is diverted along the drain and into the 'lake' further down the hill.

Glen Stewart, our 'resident' earth mover, is here for a few days to complete a number of small reno jobs, as listed in the last greens report.
