SEASON OFF TO GOOD START
Finally some good rain, some new hazards around the course and plenty of starters for the first competition of the new golfing years - hope springs eternal!!
The competition calendar opened with a good sized field of 184 players contesting a 4BBB Stableford for Mixed and Members.
Peter Cougan hits off on #10 while partner Chris Geilis (right) has "greeat expectations" of him. Opponents Robert Collingwood and Frank Martin look impressed!
Mixed winners were Jason Sherriff and Kim Kennedy on 45 points on a countback from Darryl & Jenny Brett (45 points).
Greg Morrison & Bruce Teakle on 52 points won from young Josh and Dad Alan Taylor 50 points.
There were 12 teams who challenged relationships - father & son, husband and wife (or is it partner & partner these days??) Actually seems there is an advantage in playing with a 'lation: looks like you have an increased chance of winning a special prize. Josh Taylor won the approach on #2 at 61 cm while Dad Alan won the C Grade approach on #14 at 370 cm. Then Peter Cahill took out #8 with an approach shot of 76 cm and son Daniel won the second shot into 9 at only 32 cm!!
(Right) - Satish Chandra (putting) partnered Kim Murray (in yellow) - but I don't think they are related!
Currently, and until further notice, golf carts are OFF due to the prevailing wet and dangerous conditions. Decision made 9.00 a.m. Wednesday 17 March.
Match Committee met at 10.00 a.m. on Wednesday 17 March to review the conduct of our championships for 2010.
Finally - yesterday, G.A. announced that the first package of changes to our Australian Handicapping system will take effect at 9.00 a.m. (AEST) on Friday 9 April, 2010.
Need to refer back to a ruling given in a past month?
