Male Members Annual Events

Unless otherwise stated, these are closed events, eligible players to be male NGC Members
Dates as per Fixture book or NGC Web Site
(Additional conditions of play specific to each event to be read in conjunction with general conditions of play)
(1) MONTHLY HONOURS including annual play off of monthly winners.
Stroke competition played over 18 holes NET.
Grades “A “up to 12; “B “13-19; “C” 20-36 “LADIES” 0-45Trophies are awarded for winners in each grade and runners up in “A”, “B” and “C” Grades, and recognition given for the best gross score. Ties for the best gross score will be resolved by countback (Rules of Golf p147 (c))
Men winners of each monthly mug prior to annual playoff (currently October to following September) will be eligible to compete in the Annual Monthly Honours Mug of Mugs.
Annual winner “Mug of Mugs” will be the eligible monthly winner with the lowest net score on the Mug of Mug Final day.
(2) CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS. (Honour Board; Gross winners)
Stroke competition played over 72 holes (4 rounds of 18 holes per day.)
Championships will be four (4) rounds. Should any of these rounds be cancelled then one (1) extra round will be played. Winners will be decided on rounds completed.
Grades “A” up to 12; “B” 13-19; “C” 20-36; “Ladies” 0 - 45
Trophies are awarded for winners in each grade and runners up in “A”, “B” and “C” Grades.
The player’s grade will be determined by his/her handicap on the first day. Handicaps will be calculated daily. Players may change handicaps but not grades. Play and practice on the course is permitted between rounds except if two or more rounds are played consecutively or over two consecutive days.
The final round will be played with the leading 8 male players in each grade and leading 4 females playing in a seeded draw - players with lowest gross (1-4) and (5-8). The final seeded draw will start at approximately 11.00 a.m. The order of grades teeing off will be: Ladies – C – B - A .
Players are expected to play in the seeded draw. A player unable to play in the seeded draw will make an application to Match Committee in writing, stating reason/s. The Match Committee may, after consideration of the circumstances make exceptions.
Ties will be decided as per General Conditions of Play.
JUNIOR CHAMPION
Gross winner determined over 72 holes, net winner determined over 72 holes. Juniors may also win their respective grade event.
SENIOR CHAMPION (Incorporating Carolan Cup) (50yrs and over as of the first round of championships)
Nett winner determined over 72 holes.
(3) MEN’S FOURSOMES. (Honour Board; Gross winners)
Stroke competition played over 36 holes in one day.
Trophies for 36 hole GROSS and NET winners and 1st 18 and 2nd 18 NET Winners. (Players cannot win more than one trophy). Handicap for the NET event will be half combined handicap. Players hitting off odd numbered tees in the first stipulated round will hit off even numbers in the second round and vise versa.
If a” play off “is required the player who will hit first is the one who teed off first on hole #1.
(4) MIXED FOURSOMES Male + Female member (Honour Board; Gross winners)
Stroke competition played over 36 holes in one day.
Trophies for 36 hole GROSS and NET winners and 1st 18 and 2nd 18 NET winners. (Players cannot win more than one trophy). Handicap for the NET event will be half combined handicap. Male players hit off odd numbered tees in the first stipulated round will hit off even numbers in the second.
If a” play off “is required male players will hit first.
(5) SCRATCH MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP (previously Doug Cogill Match)
18 Hole Scratch Match Play Knockout Competition for the male players qualifying with the best 8 GROSS scores in the Club Championships. Ties in deciding qualifiers will be determined by a count back. Last 18 holes; then last 9 holes of the final round.
A match which ends “all Square” will be played off hole by hole until one player wins a hole. The play-off will start at the hole where the match began. Play will be from the permanent blue markers.
(6) MEN’S HANDICAP MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP (previously Charlton Cup
18 hole Handicap Match Play Knockout Competition. (Maximum is 36) Use the “Match Play Index” to determine where strokes are given. Player with the lower handicap plays off scratch; the other player’s handicap is adjusted accordingly (e.g. A’s handicap is 10, B’s is 15 then A plays off 0 and B plays off 5 (ie 15 – 10 = 5) A match which ends “all square” will be played off hole by hole until one player wins a hole. The play-off will start at the hole where the match began, and strokes should be given as in the stipulated round.
Match play handicap is to be the current handicap for the day of the match. Play will be from the permanent blue markers (unless otherwise stipulated).
(7) MEN’S 4BBB HANDICAP MATCH PLAY CHAMPIONSHIP. (previously Frank DeVere Memorial)
18 hole Handicap Match Play Knockout Competition. (Maximum handicap is 36). Use the “Match Play Index” to determine where strokes are given. Player with the lower handicap plays off scratch; the other player’s handicap is adjusted accordingly (e.g. A’s handicap is 10, B’s is 15 then A plays off 0 and B plays off 5 (ie 15 – 10 = 5) A match which ends “all Square” will be played off hole by hole until one side wins a hole. The play-off will start at the hole where the match began, and strokes should be given as in the stipulated round. The match play handicaps are to be the current handicaps for the day of the match. (8) WEDNESDAY MEN’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
54 hole stroke NET competition played over 18 holes per day for 4 days.
Grades: “A” up to 12; “B” 13-19; “C”20-36
Winner of each grade will be decided by counting his best two NET scores of the first 3 rounds + NET score from the last round.
Trophies will be presented for winners and runners up in each grade.
Players will remain in the grade in which they played their first round. Rounds canceled will, if possible, be rescheduled. If not the championship will be decided on rounds played.
(9) UPTONS MOTOR VILLAGE FINAL
Monthly winners of “Upton’s Red Shirt Days” from all grades since the previous final are eligible to compete. (Currently October to following September.)
No grades apply for the final only. 18 holes stroke NET competition played annually.
Trophies are awarded for winner and runner up.
(10) DIGGERS CUP and ANZAC SHIELD DAY
EVENT – open single Stableford. Grades “A”, “B” “C” and “Ladies”
DIGGERS CUP ELIGIBILITY
Any returned servicepersons from the Australian or New Zealand military forces who had an overseas deployment

Winner to receive replica of Diggers Cup engraved and donated by Nambour R.S.L, Sub Branch
ANZAC SHIELD ELIGIBILITY
Open to all players (best score)
Winner to receive miniature engraved shield donated by Nambour Golf Club
Anzac Shield & Diggers Cup winners are also eligible to win their respective grades.
(An increased match fee will be charged and a donation made to Legacy)
TOWN OF NAMBOUR OPEN
(additional specific conditions of play )
1. 36 hole event of individual stroke play, played over 2 consecutive days (18 holes per day)
Playing Grades: “A” Grade up to 12 “B” Grade 13-19 “C” Grade 20-27
Grades will be determined by handicaps on first day. Players handicaps will be recalculated for second day.
2. All players are required to report to officials at least 10 minutes prior to starting. Those not responding may be sent to the end of the field , or at a time at the starters discretion.
3. The decision of the match committee shall be final in all matters relating to the tournament.
4. In the event of a tie for either the open Gross or open Junior winner, the event will be decided by a “sudden death “ play off on the 1st ,8th ,9th. All other 36 hole ties will be resolved by a countback on the last 18 holes and if no result last 9 holes. All 18 hole ties will be resolved by a countback on last 9 holes. Cards will be matched as in Rules of Golf, Conditions of Competition, Stroke Play (page 140) Section C. Should the tie not be resolved then the scores will be matched over the first 9 holes. If still not resolved – then tied result. Should either round be cancelled then the Championship shall be decided on the round played. Trophies shall be adjusted accordingly.
5. On the second day the leading players (number to be determined by the match committee) will play in a seeded draw.
6. All players are eligible for relevant nearest the pin shots. Players who receive winners or runners up trophies in any 36 hole event are not eligible for 18 hole event trophies or ball run downs.
7. Seeded players must play in the time slots allocated by the Match Committee.
Maintenance of assets around the course is a never ending job, and one that usually goes unnoticed.
Only one round to go - this one is the "COUNTER" played on Wednesday 8 September!!
The 2010 Mens Four Ball Match Play (Frank DeVere Memorial) is well under way, with this round determining quarter final teams. Most of the matches so far have been quite close, with winning margins surprisingly small - handicaps must be accurate?
