Nambour Junior Open

I can remember when I was that supple!!

A large field of 76 players from 17 year old to Pee Wee (only guess their age, but for many of them, their driver was longer than they were!) played in the Nambour Junior Open held at NGC on Sunday 7 June.  Darrell and his team certainly went out with a ‘bang’ for his last Open as his tenure as the trainee Pro with Mal Wilson and NGC. The spread of trophies, due to the huge sponsorship support from business and club members, was something to behold.

The tussle for the Open title was a beauty, with a playoff needed to decide the champ. Our own Adam Smith (10) and Tim Butterworth (5) both shot an equal par round of 68, but Tim won the title on the first hole of the play off. Well done Adam to hold Tim.

Our Nambour Juniors had some creditable performances, and did not miss out on collecting some of the great trophies on show.

Aaron Schott was runner up in the A Grade nett with a 76/64 on a count back to Kynan John 75/64.

Nick Drinkwater won the B Grade nett with a fine 66.

Ryan Derrick in the 9 hole comp was runner up with a 53.

Jesse Scholtz with a 72 won the C Grade nett, while Jarrod Biggs (long drive) and Kynan John #17 pin) picked up special prizes. And to top it all off, the Nambour team won the Carbrook Cup (team of three total nett) well ahead of Caloundra and Horton Park.
